Replacing Vip612 but Dish won't tell me if my replacements can be activated

More specifically, I'm shopping for a used 612 or 722K and CustSvc won't tell me if the ones I'm interested in can be activated.
After multiple (10x) tries I've gotten responses that 2 of them were still active... What? Someone is paying for an old receiver that probably has been out of service for a long time?

Did I miss a discussion that stated Dish doesn't release old rcvrs any more?

Please refrain from "dude, get a hopper"
I'm not giving up my acct# just to ask a question....

I get this almost every morning about 9:30 AM............

Why can't this be done at the 4:00 AM reboot???

I don't watch TV during the day but my wife watches the food channel and she is getting P-OD and i don't blame her.

She says we should go back to Directv>>>>!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friendly post about the call I had yesterday. First I'll start by saying I've been with Dish for 13 years and will be with them for at least the next 2 as I just agreed to a two year price lock. Unfortunately they couldn’t spread out the payments to equal my previous monthly price which was 84 dollars, so they gave me an upfront credit of 216 dollars to make up the difference. Set up numerous short recordings on CBS for this morning starting at 9am. Just got home and see under schedule a green circle with a check mark in it that says CBS SundayMorning started at9 and ended at 10:30 com0leted by Living Room 1. Well, I can’t find it anywhere. I guess even though it says it was recorded, it must not have been.

Anyone else getting a boot recovery warning 981 message on the original hopper (from 2012) (NOT a Joey) today?

Been sitting with 0 progress bars for several hours now. Called dish support, 1st level tech said to wait at least 6 hours, then call back.

Wally Software Update Issue?

On one of my RV forums a member is having an issue with their Wally after it updated the software to version U801. His issue is the signal strength dropped to low to receive a HD signal. He is in the same location where their Wally was working fine before the update. He is using the Playmaker automatic dish.

Has anyone here had this problem?

I have the Trav'ler and I still have the U449 version.

Recovering DVR Free Space?

How can I speed up the recovery/availability of DVR free space after moving programs to an external hard drive?

Background: The DVR on our Hopper 3 was nearly full (90+%) so I moved several dozen movies to the EHD. The movies are gone but the DVR still shows as nearly full.

I know this has been asked before, but I couldn’t find the answer.

Hopper ota and setting recordings

Dish installed an ota adapter and antenna at my home and I get all my local channels.
But the guide only shows information for the current hour. How am I able to set recording timers on the OTA channels?

As of today, 9-27-17, there are no scheduled events posted for the next 2 weeks. That is subject to change on a daily basis.

My recent experience with DISH “high end” support is that DISH would rather lose a subscriber than placate a subscriber that has been a DISH subscriber for over a quarter century.

I originally installed DISH when I lived in Oregon back somewhere in the mid 1990's.

I kept our subscription going until somewhere around the year 2000 when we moved to Hawaii. I tried to use the DISH Mover program but was told that it didn't apply to Hawaii.

When we bought our Hawaii house, we subscribed to...

Is a Hopper 1 compatible with a wireless Joey. I am happy with my current setup in our RV with a Hopper 1 and wired Joey but would like to put a tv on our patio without a lot of wires. This would be a perfect solution.

As of 10pm MT, the contract with HBO/Cinemax has expired. They have already been removed from the lineup.
Apparently HBO is making some outrageous demands for the content. Hope we get them back before GoT comes back on.

External USB Hard Drive vip211k

I had a vip211 which I paid the $40 for the external hard drive option and everything has worked fine for a couple years. Unfortunately the over the air tuner died on the 211 and Dish sent me a 211K replacement unit. When I hook the external hard drive to the 211k, it takes about 30 seconds and I can hear the hard drive making a sort of clicking sound and then a message pops up on the screen saying there is a problem using that hard drive to try another. I have 2 other brands of external...

I rescanned (and picked up a channel) but now the information text to the right of the guide overruns the screen.

i seem to recall reading about a fix for this but I cannot find it. Can anyone help?

skew setting using an inclinometer.

I have had to change the skew so often that the numbers are no longer readable(full-time RV and change every 2 weeks), so I ordered a magnetic inclinometer to make this adjustment. For the life of me, I cannot figure out what the meter should show. For my current location, DP shows 131.6 for skew for 1000.2 western arc LNBF. The meter only shows left and right of 0. If I subtract 131.6 from 180 I get 48.4 or if I subtract 90 from 131.6 I get 41.6 Which would be correct or are both wrong?...

4K on Dish

I was wondering about the 4k channels on dish. I just purchased a 65 inch LG 4k TV, and I'm connected to Hopper 3 and A new Pioneer AVR that passes 4k signals. Now I'm getting a real nice upgrade on picture quality with the 1080i channels on dish but I went to a ballgame on one of the 4k channels and it was'nt a knock me out picture. In fact not whole lot better than the forementioned upgrade. Does anyone know if that is because the game was on the 4k channel that wasn't the HDR one or...

Hopper remote won't pair

My daughter that's a year old somehow unpaired our remote for the bedroom . I hit system info on the front of the hopper and the held down system info and nothing happens. When I release it, the sat button just flashes and then nothing after that ?

MLB Extra / NHL Center Ice Question

I was just wondering if I needed any special equipment to get MLB Extra Innings or NHL Center Ice.

Currently have a 1000.2 EA Hybrid with H3 on 61.5 and 72.

Figured I should ask since I know I can't get international channels without a separate dish. Didn't know if it was the same with the sports packages.
